I met Laney four years ago when she joined my AAU program, Team Elevation. From day one, Laney approached every practice, workout and game with one goal… to compete at all costs. Laney’s work ethic is second to none. She is always the first to arrive to the gym and the last to leave, setting the tone for her teammates.
As a guard, Laney is an amazing floor general who sets up her teammates for success and can attack the rim at will. She communicates extremely well on both sides of the ball. What also sets Laney apart that I love is her ability to master the midrange shot, which most players nowadays usually don’t work on. Laney is relentless on defense, making each player she faces work for every dribble, move or shot they want.
I’m excited to be a part of Laney’s journey as her and her parents navigate through the rest of her basketball career.
I’ve known and coached Laney the past nine years. Her work effort and resolve are a testament to her unwavering commitment and boundless potential. As a player, she embodies the essence of speed, decision-making, and foresight impacting the game with her vision and crafty play. Laney confronts challenges head-on especially after suffering two injuries the past 18 months. She realizes the work and dedication that is needed to gain back a starting position. Her resilience and determination through this time are key characteristics that will help her on and off the field.
Laney is a multi-sport athlete. She epitomizes the synergy of dedication and versatility, constantly seeking improvement. Her tireless efforts, both individually and as a team player, reflect a relentless pursuit of excellence. Beyond the game, her giving nature shines through community service and mentoring, She has leadership qualities and compassion. Whether on the field or in life, her unwavering resolve, strong work ethic, innovative thinking, and compassionate spirit will propel her towards success. I look forward to see how Laney thrives as she takes on her next challenge of entering high school.
Laney is the type of kid that every coach dreams of having on their team. Not only does she bring her best every game, she also elevates the level of her teammates. Her positive attitude is contagious for her teammates and coaching staff and I look forward to coaching her each season!
